We at The Search team, are responsible for some of the most vital and impactful features of the Truecaller application. These include:

• Caller Identification: Identifying who is calling and making sure users can make educated decisions to pick up or not
• Spam Protection: Identifying and blocking spam numbers, calculating spam likelihood, and enhancing overall spam detection.
• Name Accuracy: Guarantee that users see the most accurate and reliable names associated with numbers.
• Fraud Protection: Developing and maintaining services to protect users from fraudulent calls and scams.

As a Senior Backend Engineer in the Search team, you will collaborate with a dedicated team responsible for maintaining some of Truecaller's most essential services. These include the search engine that powers caller identification, the systems that manage spam protection, the services that handle user comments, and fraud protection services, among other critical functions. 

The impact you will create:

• Collaborate with a cross-disciplinary team to design, develop, and maintain highly scalable and available backend systems.
• Play a key role in managing critical contact identification and spam-blocking backend systems that serve hundreds of millions of users.
• Monitor and optimize system performance to ensure reliability and efficiency at a large scale.

What you bring in:

• Strong background in Java or Scala
• Experience working with distributed systems
• Experience working with data-intensive applications
• Good understanding of data structures and algorithms
• Good English skills, both oral and written
• The drive to learn and develop as a professional

It would be great if you also have:

• Experience building systems in the cloud
• Experience with virtualization environments, e.g. Docker
• Experience with systems for managing containerized applications, e.g. Kubernetes
• Experience with non-relational databases
